And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Faith in Jesus

– an impertinence in our modern world.

Believing in a higher being or a dear God who unites all the religions of the world, yes, that is accepted by a large majority, but Jesus? What should I do with that? Is not this a form of faith of a group of eternally yesterday who ignore the findings of modern science and fool themselves into something that does not correspond to reality?

To believe Jesus, to trusting him, is that possible, does one not have to give up his mind first, and what should that actually do? What is reported by him is not believable, is it? There are not a few people, especially those who were or are still in serious crises, who swear by him, who claim: “Without him, I would not have stood it all!”

Who is this Jesus, after whom we count our time, because really really? If he is a revolutionary, a good person, but has long been rotting, is he a religious founder, a magician, a teacher, a madman who imagined himself to be God, or is he actually the one the Bible says he is the son of the living God, the Messiah of Israel, the Savior of the world?

Faith in Jesus, what’s that? A good friend once said: “Religions in themselves have always been a reason for wars – even today. They would have to be banned, these are all fantasies! “Unfortunately, one can not disagree with this opinion. But one thing you need to know is that faith in Jesus Christ is not a religion – it is a relationship*! A relationship with the one who claims that he already existed before that time and said, “He who sees me, sees the Father!” God himself is meant. That is a steep assertion that can not just be left standing. This has to be filled with life by Jesus, because either it is the statement of a madman, or it is true. There is no other option.

By the way, do you know the difference between a religion and belief in Jesus Christ? In all religions, including the Christian ones, one has to do something to please God: visit the church / mosque, temples etc. regularly, do good works and other things. In short, you have to earn your way to heaven. Faith in Jesus Christ is fundamentally different: Jesus says that we can not do anything to come to God, and thus to heaven. On the contrary, it is written, “It is terrible to fall into the hands of the living God!” (Hebrews 10:31). But Jesus has done everything for us to find a merciful God. He has cleared away everything that has hindered us from living with God who became our Father in Jesus who loves us. Now the way is clear, the debt paid, but only for the one who receives this gift from the hand of Jesus and lives with him henceforth, who trust him and enters into a relationship with him. Just believing in a “dear God” is not enough. The apostle James says: (James 2:19) “Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. It’s not about holding something true, but about belonging to someone, Jesus the Son of God, and following Him. The apostle John says it this way:

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. (1 John 5:12).

Who does not have this life will inevitably stand before God’s judgment and be convicted because he can never pay his life’s debt.

Watch the film about the life of Jesus, filmed at original locations according to the gospel of Luke or take a New Testament and read for yourself how it was with this Jesus of whom the Jewish historian Flavius Josephus (37 – 100 AD in: Jewish Antiquities) wrote:

“Around that time lived a Jesus, a wise man, if one may call him a human. For he was the bearer of unbelievable deeds and the teacher of all men who gladly took the truth. So he attracted many Jews and many Gentiles. He was the Christ. And though Pilate condemned him to crucifixion at the instigation of the noblest of the people, his early followers did not become unfaithful to him. For on the third day he appeared to them again alive, as God-sent prophets had foretold of him and a thousand other wonderful things of him. And even to this day the people of the Christians who call themselves after him are gone. “
